Maine Township celebrated independence with a Pakistani culture festival features Sufi music and cuisine
Pakistani American community hosted Pakistani culture festival in Dee Park Des Plaines with music fun and food
The annual Independence Day cultural celebration was enthusiastically held again among the Pakistani American community in Maine Township, Cook County, Illinois.
For the fourth time, the Pakistani American community in Main Township celebrated their annual Independence Day cultural celebration with fervor and emotion. It brought together people from all walks of life. Asif Malik, Care and Cure, and Rana Javed Khan organized the Event
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Pakistan Cultural Festival took place in Maine Township. The event's emcee was Rana Javed Khan of Cook County, Illinois. Syed Abdan Ullah performed Talawat-e-Quran. The main event of the celebrations for Pakistan Independence Day is the ceremony to commemorate the day. The Main Township observance was held in Dee Park, Des Plaines, but similar Independence Day ceremonies and events are held in all of America's major cities. The ceremony was amazing.

Local leaders and other elected officials came together to celebrate with a magnificent anthem ceremony at six o'clock in the evening. The major guest was Pakistan's general consul, Tariq Karim.The events began with the national anthems of Pakistan and America. Saeed Ali, Pakistan's Deputy Consul General, also attended the celebration.
Des Plaines Mayor Andrew Goczkowski, Peter Gialamas, Susan Moylan Krey, Kelly Horvath, James Maher, Asif Malik, and Supervisor Kimberly Jones are just a handful of the numerous members of the Maine Townships. Several state elected officials attended the ceremony, including Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison, State Senators Laura Murphy and Laura Fine, and numerous others.Naveed Anwar, a Pakistani American businessman, served as the event's chair. He was unable to attend the ceremony since he was occupied with his business trip in Pakistan. However, he wished the event well.

Township in Maine Asif Malik, the event's organizer and trustee, gave one of the event's best addresses. His speech was well received by the audience. He declared that today is a great day to commemorate Pakistan's independence.Humans are endowed with freedom by God. We should recognize the importance of freedom. State Senator Laura Fine was among the elected figures who spoke at the event.
Mr. Tariq Karim, Consul General of Pakistan, was the keynote speaker.
The Consul General congratulated the Pakistani-American community on the 79th anniversary of Pakistan's independence in his speech. He commended the community's influence on the cultural and social fabric of the United States and underlined the day's historical significance. He also praised the community's accomplishment in the wake of Pakistan's triumph in Marka-e-Haq.
The Consul General asked community members to reiterate their commitment to Pakistan and to continue playing an active role in enhancing the long-term connection between the United States and Pakistan.
The event's eagerly awaited performance by the great Asif Ali Sattu began when every seat was filled. More than 5,000 people showed up. The weather was extremely cooperative despite the warmth. Assisted by the soothing folk and patriotic qawwali music of Pakistan, which was performed by both local and international artists. Asif Ali Khan's live performances, along with a few young individuals who joined in with ethnic dance and Pakistani flag gestures, threw the crowd into a frenzy and contributed to the happy ending of the day's events.
The celebration is continued by Youth of Chicagoland with lively acts, dances, and pleasant music.
