Patch: Where is one of your favorite places to go in Des Plaines?

, I stop there three times a week. I like the fried shrimp, salmon and smoked salmon. He’s got the best seafood in town.

Patch: What is one of your favorite things to do in Des Plaines?

I used to play softball at Rand Park all through the 70’s and part of the 80’s.

I had a great time. It was a great group of guys, great commeraderie, and we were competitive too. I don’t think I could throw a ball down the alley now.

Patch: What is one thing you know about Des Plaines that others may not?

It’s changed. A lot of people don’t know that. A lot of new people have moved in in the last 15-20 years.

This was a helluva town 30-40 years ago. You could get anything here. You didn’t have to leave town for anything. Everything was downtown β€” restaurants, stores, all different types of shops. Anything you needed you came right here uptown and got it.
