Two hit by car at site of previous accidents in Des Plaines

Another accident at the same site in 2015 was fatal

Two individuals were struck by a car on Miner Street, adjacent to the Metra station, on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald. The two victims received non-life threatening injuries, and they were taken to the hospital.

At the same location on July 23, 2015, two 13-year-old girls on bikes and a 70-year-old woman were struck by cars in separate incidents. The woman died from her injuries.

There are ten signs at the crosswalk telling motorists to watch for pedestrians. The city has requested permission to install flashing beacons. The Illinois Department of Transportation requires a safety inspection before the beacons can be installed, and that won't be possible until the state passes a budget.
