Update: Des Plaines Alderman Receives Tip, Body Found in Hotel Parking Lot

In a previous version of this story police reported a dead body was found in Sixth Ward Alderman Mark Walsten’s vehicle, which was inaccurate. The body was not found in Walsten’s vehicle. Walsten received an anonymous tip about a deceased person in a vehicle in a hotel parking lot.

Walsten said when he received the tip, he went to investigate to see if it might be a mannequin or something. When it appeared to be a body, he called police immediately, he said.

Sixth Ward Alderman Mark Walsten reported to police that there was a dead body in a vehicle in the 1400 block of Touhy Avenue at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 4, stated Saturday.

Police found a person in the back seat of the vehicle, and the medical examiner’s office was called to the scene. Police stated that a preliminary investigation found no evidence of foul play. The medical examiner’s office is investigating the death, police stated.
