One woman was killed and two others injured in a house fire that struck a Downers Grove home early Saturday morning, police reported.
Robyn Rauch, 35, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital alongside the two others injured in the blaze shortly after firefighters arrived on the scene at 4 a.m. Feb. 4. Rauch was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for further treatment and was pronounced dead at 11:32 p.m. the same day.
According to village fire officials, the flames at 4013 Washington St. engulfed a two-story, single-family home. By the time the fire department got there, thick smoke and fire were visible from two sides of the building.

The surrounding community wasn't unfazed — numerous 9-1-1 calls were phoned in despite the early hour, and one neighbor was trying to help someone trapped on the second floor when officials made it to Washington Street. They ended up having to perform a rescue from a small second-story window, according to a release from the fire department.
Firefighters from the Downers Grove, Lisle-Woodridge, Westmont, Lombard, York Center, Tri State and Lemont fire departments helped extinguish the flames Saturday. The Downers Grove Police Department was also present. No firefighters were injured during the course of the fire.

The state of the other two patients, as well as the cause of the fire, is still unknown. According to police, the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
