Amnesty Day Set For Week Of Oct. 3 In Downers Grove

Downers Grove residents can throw away furniture and other bulk items during the week of Oct. 3.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove residents can unload old furniture, bicycles and other bulk items during the week of Oct. 3 for Amnesty Day 2022.

The bulk collection will take place during residents' regular collection day. The following sticker requirements will be in effect:

  • Customers that use stickers: First five bags must have a refuse sticker, excluding yard waste
  • Customers who rent a 35-gallon cart: Four items must have refuse stickers
  • Customers who rent a 65-gallon cart: Three items must have refuse stickers
  • Customers who rent a 95-gallon cart: Two items must have refuse stickers

Once customers have met the above requirements, the following items will be picked up for free:

  • Furniture
  • Bicycles
  • Lamps

The following items are not eligible for collection:

  • Motor oil
  • Tires
  • Liquids and hazardous waste
  • Large household appliances
  • Electronics
  • Yard waste
