Boy, 2, Found Running Through Parking Lot In Diaper, Socks In Downers Grove: Police
The boy's mother was charged with endangering the life of a child in connection with the incident at DuPage PADS interim housing center.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Downers Grove woman faces misdemeanor charges after her two-year-old son was found running through a parking lot wearing only a diaper, a pair of socks and a gold chain, according to police.
Chanel Quintana, 34, of the 1100 block of Butterfield Road, was charged with endangering the life of a child in connection with the Dec. 17 incident.
Police were called to the DuPage PADS interim housing center for a report that a child had been left unattended and was running in the parking lot. Per the police report, the child had nearly been hit by a car before the caller intervened. Police also say they learned this was not the first incident in which the child had been left unattended.

An officer said they found the child's mother running across Steinhafel's parking lot. According to police, the boy's mother said she had been working as a food delivery driver since 9 p.m. the night before, when she left the child in the care of her daughter, 16.
Police say the boy's mother told them she came home late due to traffic and having slept in her car. She said she had requested that someone watch the child, but that the person tasked with watching him had left the room before police got to the scene.

The child was taken into protective custody by police and then taken to a nearby hospital due to having been out in the cold weather.
The child was later taken into custody by the Department of Children and Family Services.
