Armed Robbery Of Pedestrian Just After Men Surround Car In Western Suburbs
Police say the men surrounded a woman on Forest Avenue, showed a gun and stole her purse. A similar incident was reported minutes earlier.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Six men are in custody after an armed robbery in the 4900 block of Forest Avenue in Downers Grove Tuesday night.
Police say three men surrounded a woman on Forest Avenue around 8:30 p.m., showed a "multicolored" gun, and stole cash from her purse.
Just minutes earlier, four men had surrounded a car near the intersection of Forest and Prairie and started yelling at the woman inside. That woman drove off "without further incident," per Downers Grove police.

Later that night, police pulled a car over in the 3200 block of Highland Avenue for a traffic stop. When police searched the car, they reported finding "a backpack containing a sweatshirt matching that worn by the offender who possessed the handgun during the robbery," a news release said. Per the news release, the car search was consensual.

Officers also reported that a "multicolored" gun was found in the car's center console.
