Authorities ID Man Killed by Metra Train in Downers Grove

The Chicago man was hit by a train April 13 near the Downers Grove Main Street station.

Downers Grove, IL - The pedestrian who died April 13 after he was hit by a Metra train has been identified.

Howard Baer, 65 of Chicago, died "from the massive injuries he suffered as a result of the train striking him," according to the DuPage County Coroner's Office.

The case is still under investigation.

Baer was hit around 8:15 a.m. April 13 by BNSF train No. 1252, near the Downers Grove Main Street station.

The train originated at Aurora at 7:42 a.m. and made a stop in Naperville at 7:59 a.m. It was not scheduled to stop at the Downers Grove Main Street station.
