Cars on 75th Street Burglarized: Police Blotter

3 Cars Burglarized

Three cars were burglarized outside a 75th Street business, resulting in $500 in damages as well as $620 in property and cash missing.

The burglaries occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. March 1 on the 1500 block of 75th Street. Among the missing items were two purses with cash, credit cards and driver's licenses, and a $200 blue North Face coat with $25 in it.

All three cars were broken into to gain access. A blue 2006 Honda van and a silver 2006 Nissan Maxima each had a window broken out. Damage was estimated at $200 per window. A white 2002 Chrysler van was burglarized with a different approach.

"The lock on the door appeared to be forced open by a screwdriver," said the police report for this incident. Damage was estimated at $100.

The purses were out of sight in the vans and the North Face jacket was in the backseat of the Maxima. All three vehicles were located on the west side of the business, facing east against the building.

SUNDAY, MARCH 10

Stop Sign Spray Painted

An anonymous caller at about 6 p.m. reported a stop sign with spray paint on it on the village’s north side. The stop sign, located at the intersection of Cumnor Road and 39th Street, had a circular pattern over the “O” on the sign and over the portion that says “All Way.” The sign was spray painted between 6:05 p.m. March 6 and 6:30 p.m. March 7. The damage is estimated at $200.
