Comedy, Improv Show Celebrates One Year In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — "In Bed by Ten" will mark one year of comedy variety shows with a special performance featuring local and Chicago-based improv groups and standup comedians. The anniversary show is slated for June 15 at 7:30 p.m. the Downers Grove Moose Lodge.

The show was founded last May by Downers Grove residents Bridget Frodyma and Meg Johns, along with La Grange resident Casey Alltop. The trio of producers studied comedy and improv in Chicago before they relocated to the western suburbs.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of "In Bed by Ten," producers have brought in Chicag0-based improv groups PH and Wolftown, along with The Coven and Piebenga Plumbing. Featured standup performers include Frodyma and Chicago performer Lindsay Finn.

"I have loved getting the chance to work with my co-producers Casey and Meg to entertain our In Bed by Ten audiences for the past year," Frodyma told Patch. "Our audience members are so positive and happy and truly are the best. Because our show is the only like this around here, audience members are excited to have it and always end up asking me when the next show is happening."

She added, It feels awesome to be able to provide live comedy where people can hear different perspectives in a safe space and laugh. It’s a show with a casual, underground feel but a high caliber of entertainment. I feel lucky to be able to give comedians a stage to do their thing while building relationships with local businesses and introducing audience members to performers they haven't seen yet and places they may not have been before."

Tickets to "In Bed by Ten," available at the door, are $10 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Women of the Moose.
