Contentious Maple Avenue Daycare Proposal Withdrawn
The news comes after neighboring residents organized to share their concerns about safety issues involving children, traffic and pedestrians

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A contentious proposal to build a daycare at 2414 Maple Ave. has been withdrawn by developers. Longtime resident Jen Shea, who was vocal in her opposition of the proposal, told Patch InSite Real Estate notified her of the withdrawal by phone.
Shea, who has lived on nearby Elinor Avenue for nearly 30 years, was joined by others in her neighborhood, along with "the overwhelming majority of resident homeowners and families opposing this project from Walnut to Belmont and College to Inverness," she told Patch in mid-June.
Residents specifically raised concerns about how the daycare would increase traffic on Maple Avenue, near a bus stop that is used by students in District 58 and District 99. One resident told Patch the intersection was "treacherous."
