Dead Geese At Barth Pond Likely Killed By Coyote
Residents notified the park district of the dead geese at Patriot's Park in early January amid concerns about bird flu.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Three dead geese that were found near Barth Pond in Patriot's Park were likely killed by a coyote or some other animal, according to the Downers Grove Park District (DGPD). The dead geese were found amid concerns about avian flu.
DGPD spokesperson Dawn Hartman told Patch there have been no known cases of avian influenza in DGPD parks as of Jan. 10.
According to Hartman, two residents contacted police on Jan. 1 about the geese. Hartman said staff found the geese the following day and noticed bite marks. It was "evident they had been attacked by a coyote or other animals," Hartman told Patch.
