District 58 Students To Compete Nationally In PTA Reflections Contest
Six District 58 students were among just 27 chosen to advance to the national level.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Six students from Downers Grove Grade School District 58 were among just 27 students whose work is moving on to the national level of the PTA Reflections competition.
Here are the students, along with the names and categories for their entries:
- Fifth-grader Sydney M. from Highland Elementary; "finding strength" (dance choreography)
- Eighth-grader Zachary Y. from Herrick Middle School; "Friends" (dance choreography)
- Kindergartener Anneliese M. from Pierce Downer Elementary; "Snow" (film production)
- Second-grader Mitchell O. from Lester Elementary; "Hope on a Boat" (literature)
- Second-grader Lissette A. from Henry Puffer Elementary; "Our Home" (visual arts)
- Seventh-grader Sadie S. from Herrick Middle School; "clear skies" (visual arts)
Lester Kindergartener Lydia O. also earned recognition for receiving honorable mention at the state level of the contest.

For more than 50 years, the PTA Reflections program has invited annual submissions from students throughout the U.S. on themes chosen by fellow students. Students compete in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, photography, music composition and visual art.
When 2023-24 contest began, hundreds of students submitted works based on the theme "I Am Hopeful Because."
