Downers Grove Business Owner Named Chairman of National Wood Flooring Association

John Lessick, president and owner of Downers Grove based APEX Wood Floors, was recently named chairman of the board of directors of The National Wood Flooring Association.

The announcement was made earlier this month at the National Wood Flooring Expo in Dallas.

The organization is a nonprofit trade association, which represents manufacturers, distributors, retailers, installers, inspectors and others in the flooring industry with the goal of providing resources and opportunities for advancement in the business.

APEX Wood Floors employs artisans who produce wood floors using the highest standards of craftsmanship, according to the company. It specializes in handcrafted hardwood floors. The company has been operating for more than 30 years.

Lessick has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and brings that expertise to his role at chairman, according to a news release.

“As President, Lessick grew APEX Wood Floors into Chicago’s premier wood flooring company,” the release said. “Lessick's talent with people and business savvy has made APEX a much sought-after partner for top architects, designers and high-end consumers across the country.”

A Wheaton resident, Lessick is considered an industry leader and he also partners with the American Society of Interior Designers’ Illinois Chapter. Among his honors, Lessick has received three ASID Design Excellence Awards and received the NWFA’s Floor of the Year Award.
