The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. It’s a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104.

Children’s Librarian Sharon Hrycewicz first heard about this event on Twitter last year.

“We’ve been wanting to offer coding classes to grade school kids for some time. Through video introductions and lessons that get progressively more difficult, the Hour of Code presents information that is both easy and fun.”

Miss Sharon applauds the use of pop culture characters like Elsa from Frozen in the modules, saying “it makes the format more approachable for kids.”

The 10 Chromebooks used for this program were purchased with a generous gift in memory of Betty Brethauer.
