In conjunction with our 125th anniversary, donate food to those in need. For each item brought in, $1 will be waived from your account. Bring unexpired canned goods, cereal, peanut butter, paper products, and toiletries to the Circulation Desk on the first floor.

Stop by the lobby for balloons, party hats, and bookmarks - because what better reason to celebrate than it being the 125th day of our 125th year!
Movie - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In celebration of May the fourth, watch the newest Star Wars movie on the big screen. Popcorn provided. In this thrilling continuation of the epic space opera, ex-stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega), scrappy desert dweller Rey (Daisy Ridley), and droid companion BB-8 get caught up in a galactic war when they come across a map containing the whereabouts of the vanished Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). 125th Anniversary: Celebrating the Victorian Garden
Thurs., May 5, 7:00 p.m.
What do carpet beds, moon gardens, cottage gardens, specimen trees, snowball bushes, and fragrant peonies have in common? They are all part of the tapestry that made up the Victorian-era garden in America. Nina Koziol presents the garden design ideas that were popular when the Downers Grove Public Library was founded. You'll find several ideas that are still useful in today's home gardens.
125th Anniversary: Historic Recognition & Landmarking Your Home

In honor of Founders Day, learn how you can research the history of your home, participate in the Historic Homes Recognition Program, and how your home could be a candidate for landmarking. Downers Grove Museum and Village of Downers Grove representatives will explain the procedures on how to apply and be recognized.
