DuPage Announces Lineup, Schedule for Veterans Day 2016

The County is holding its memorial ceremony Nov. 6.

Veterans Day falls on Friday, Nov. 11 this year, but DuPage County will be observing the holiday Nov. 6 in a celebration of remembrance at the DuPage Convalescent Center.

The event will take place at 2 p.m. at the Center, which is located on at 400 N. County Farm Rd. in Wheaton.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • Master of Ceremonies Introduction by George Kouba of Veterans Memorial, Inc.
  • Posting of Colors by the DuPage Honor Guard
  • A “Star Spangled Banner Poem” read by Sandy Larson of the DuPage Honor Guard
  • The Pledge of Allegiance, delivered by Ken Jacobs of Veterans Memorial, Inc.
  • An Invocation by Reverend Ellen Ribe, Chaplain at the Convalescent Center
  • The Featured Speaker: Dr. Ann E. Rondeau, a U.S. Navy Vet and President of the College of DuPage, will talk
  • A Weapons Salute by the DuPage Honor Guard
  • “TAPS,” performed by Jeanette Skrip of Bugles Across America
  • “Amazing Grace,” performed by Sarah Glenn, Tunes of Glory Piper
  • Retiring of Colors by the DuPage Honor Guard
  • “Armed Forces Medley,” performed by Sarah Glenn, Tunes of Glory Piper

DuPage County also offers Veterans Assistance Commission Meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Jack T. Knuepfer Administration Building in Wheaton.
