Eagle Restaurant in Downers Grove Inducted in ‘Hot Dog Hall of Fame’
For their over two decades of serving Downers Grove with Vienna Beef, the company has offered the honor to the Village staple Greek- and American-food restaurnat.
Downers Grove’s Eagle Restaurant, a Village Greek- and American-food staple since 1981, has been inducted into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame for “hav[ing] built esteemed reputations within their local communities through innovation, philanthropic leaderships and by featuring Vienna Beef fare over the years.”
A celebration held on May 7 congratulated founder Lee Zografos and his son John for establishing their flourishing Eagle, which, according to a press release, “has a very special place in the hearts of Downers Grove residents.
“Families have grown up at Eagle Restaurant and will continue to relish this quaint and unique place within their community,” the release added.

Bob Schwartz, author of “Never Put Ketchup on a Hot Dog” and Hall of Fame creator, is quoted in the release saying, “The Hall of Fame allows Vienna to acknowledge folks in the hot dog business that have contributed a major part of their lives to creating and perpetuating their successful businesses.
Vienna Beef is a Chicago-based mid-sized sausage manufacturer. All Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame inductees can be found on the Vienna Beef website.
