The Downers Grove Park District has an array of events for residents to enjoy in summer 2025.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — As summer approaches, the Downers Grove Park District has shared a slew of events for kids and families to enjoy this year.

Party in the Park

June 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Whitlock Park

Games, crafts and other family-friendly activities will bring residents out to enjoy Whitlock Park. The free event is sponsored by True Balance Karate and Shine Pediatric Dentistry.

Fairy Festival

June 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fishel Park

This event welcomes fairies and pixies and aspiring Tinkerbells to ready their wings and gather at Fishel Park for a celebration of all things magical. The festivities include face painting and fairy-themed arts and crafts. The event is free, but food trucks will be on hand to offer snacks and refreshments for purchase.

Big Dill Pickleball Tournament

June 29 at 9 a.m.

McCollum Park

The pickleball craze comes to Downers Grove in a huge way for the Big Dill Pickleball Tournament at McCollum Park. After the success of the first Big Dill Pickleball Tournament in 2024, this event features recreational and competitive matches for single, double or team players.

Summer in the Park

July 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

McCollum Park

Food trucks, scavenger hunts and more are part of the offerings of this new free event. There'll be a dedicated kids' zone and an opportunity to create chalk drawings.

National Moth Week

July 19 through July 27

Lyman Woods

Events are planned to celebrate the role moths play in our ecosystem. The activities include a Moth Ball for kids ages 4 to 12, guided hikes and more. Click the link to learn more about National Moth Week.

NFL Flag Football Combine Day

Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Doerhoefer Park

Kids ages five to 13 years old can take part in drills inspired by NFL scouting. The event kicks off flag football season, and a discount is available for participants who are registered in Fall Youth Flag Football with the park district.
