Fiber Optic Internet Installation To Begin In Downers Grove
Metronet will be working underground and above-ground to install their fiber cables and add them to current utility lines.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Metronet is set to install a fiber optic internet infrastructure in Downers Grove. According to an update from the village, the installation will involve work that is both underground and aerial.
Crews will use existing utility infrastructure and poles during the installation, a news release said. Additionally, the fiber cables are installed concurrently with the underground drilling, as opposed to at a later date.
Metronet's installation got the green light from the Downers Grove Village Council at its May 6 meeting.

The Indiana-based Metronet debuted its initiatial fiber optic network in 2005. Since then, they've expanded to serve over 2.5 million customers in 19 states, per the company's website.
