Flaming Porta Potty, Possible Feces On Car, Bikes Stolen: Downers Grove Crime Blotter
Downers Grove police responded to reports of arson, criminal damage to property and more on their recent crime blotter.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Porta Potty was set on fire and a car was vandalized with what the owner believed to be feces, according to the most recent Downers Grove crime blotter.
Porta Potty Arson
A Porta Potty was set on fire in the 4700 block of Walnut Avenue. Police were called to the scene around 2 a.m. on on July 15 for a report of a fire by someone who had seen the incident while en route home from work. The responding officer reported on the crime blotter, "I saw what appeared to be a plastic Porta Potty engulfed in flames." Neither the police officer nor the witness saw anyone near the scene, per the crime blotter. The blaze was extinguished by the Downers Grove Fire Department.

Car Vandalized
On July 15, police responded a report of criminal damage to property in the 7300 block of Grand Avenue. The victim said they accidentally parked their car in an assigned spot in the parking lot around 2 a.m.

When they returned around 6 p.m., they noticed someone had placed a tow sticker on their window. They told police someone had removed the paper license plate from their car, cracked the windshield and scratched the car's exterior.
Police say the victim told them what "appeared to be feces" was smeared on the car's side windows and side mirrors.
Bikes Stolen from Planet Fitness
A bike was stolen from the parking lot of Planet Fitness, 2055 63rd St. Police say a woman reported that her son had parked the bike in the lot around 4:30 p.m. on July 13. When he was done working out about an hour later, he found the bike was no longer there. The caller said her son's friend, who had left the scene by the time police arrived, had also parked his bike in the lot and discovered it was missing. Police say neither bike was locked.
