Free Dental Care, Cleanings Being Offered Free To Kids Under 5
Volunteer teams from local dentist's offices will be offering the services as a way of building good dental habits for young children.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Local children under the age of 5 will have the opportunity to receive free dental care as part of an effort by local dentists and volunteer teams will be providing essential care to kids.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at Midwestern University's Multispeciality Clinic, which is located at 3450 Lacey Road in Downers Grove. As part of the dental services, the teams of volunteers will be providing cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, sealants, and X-Rays to children under the age of 5.
The services are being sponsored by Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation’s Dentist By 1 program, which strives to educate caregivers about good oral health habits and the importance of taking children to the dentist by age 1.

According to Delta Dental, most Illinois children don’t visit the dentist until they are 4 years or older. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a child visit the dentist within six months of getting their first tooth – and no later than a child’s first birthday.
Organizers of the event say that scheduling a dental visit by age 1 also allows a child and parent to establish a relationship with their dentist. This lays the foundation for regular visits and good oral health habits for years to come.
