Gun Seized, Lisle Teen Arrested During Traffic Stop In Downers Grove

Police say DeShaun Manning, 18, had a loaded gun inside the car he was driving when he was pulled over near Ogden and Belmont.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Lisle teen was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after police say they found a gun during a traffic stop near Ogden and Belmont in Downers Grove.

Officers pulled Manning over just after midnight on March 19, reporting that he stopped "well past the stop line" in the left lane that turns onto Finley from Butterfield.

Police say they searched the car and found a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson with five bullets in its magazine inside a backpack Manning said belonged to him. Officers also reported that there was cannabis in the car's center console.

A passenger who said they did not know about the gun was allowed to leave without charges. Manning was taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis and disobeying a traffic control device.

As of Tuesday morning, Downers Grove police told Patch they did not have additional information about the aggravated unlawful use of a weapon charge.
