Happy Dog Barkery Celebrating 9th Anniversary April 13, 14

Downers Grove is going to the dogs Saturday and Sunday as Happy Dog Barkery celebrates its ninth anniversary.

The Cloud 9 Anniversary Celebration will include food demonstrations, treat taste testing, raffle prizes, a book signing, visits from area rescue groups and special anniversary sales.

Sisters Beth and Cheryl Staley opened Happy Dog Barkery in 2004 with the goal of focusing on the health and well-being of every canine customer that visits the store. The dog boutique features all-natural treats, premium pet foods, and unique toys, gifts and novelty items, according to Happy Dog Barkery.

People and their pooches are invited to the anniversary for a howling good time. The schedule of events includes:

Saturday, April 13

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: The Honest Kitchen

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Visits from “As Good as Gold” Golden Retriever Rescue

1 to 4 p.m.: Visits from Midwest Labrador

1 to 3 p.m.: Book signing with Dr. Barbara Royal, veterinarian and author of The Royal Treatment: A Natural Approach to Wildly Healthy Pets

Sunday, April 14

Noon-3 p.m.: Specialty food demonstration from Born Free

Noon-3 p.m.: A visit from Midwest Brew Beagle Rescue
