House With Plane Hangar, Pond Breaks Sale Record In Downers Grove
The Brookeridge Estates home sold for $2.58 million, breaking the village's previous record when a house sold for $2.54 million in 2017.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Downers Grove home with an airplane hangar and a pond recently broke the village's record for home sales, bringing in a whopping $2.58 million, Crain's reports.
The property, located in the 8500 Block of Kearney Road in Brookeridge Estates, beat out the previous record, set by a five-bedroom Downers Grove home that sold for $2.54 million in 2017.
In addition to a 5,000 square foot hangar that accommodates small planes and is big enough for 15 cars, the nearly 3-acred property includes a pond with a strip of sand, a waterfall and an island that's accessible via a pedestrian bridge. The home, one of 81 properties with a hangar in Brookeridge Estates, was bought by Jerry and Julie Kulhanek in 2011 and was initially listed for sale in 2018 at almost $2.88 million.

Albert Miranda, the realtor who represented the Kearney Road property and its sellers, confirmed the sale, but did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment Thursday afternoon.
