Immigration Fraud Charges Filed Against Downers Grove Man

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Downers Grove man is accused of immigration fraud in connection with his business, Delta Global Solutions, Inc., while falsely posing as a licensed attorney and fabricating documents.

Jose Gregorio Sosa Cardona, 40, was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and commit immigration fraud, making a false statement to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and falsifying applications for immigration benefits. Sosa Cardona was taken into custody Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors say that between 2020 and 2024, Sosa Cardona and two employees worked together to "knowingly provide false and fraudulent information to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of his foreign national clients who were seeking benefits," a news release said.

Sosa Cardona is accused of corroborating false asylum claims by fabricating foreign law enforcement reports and membership letters from foreign political parties, per the news release. He is further accused of posing as a licensed attorney when dealing with immigration authorities.

A detention hearing for Sosa Cardona will be held March 12.
