Laptop, 46 Beanie Baby Cards Stolen in Home Burglary: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Luke A. Ryan, 23, of the 4900 block of Oakwood Avenue in Downers Grove, was arrested around 8 p.m. near Elm and Franklin streets, police said.
While on patrol, an officer noticed four individuals, hiding in the Port-o-Let Corral as he approached, police said. The officer reported smelling burnt marijuana.

Police then saw Ryan walking away from the Corral, and advised him to go back, according to reports. The group admitted to smoking marijuana, saying they were on their way to the Tivoli Theatre to watch a movie, police said.
While interviewing Ryan, an officer found a wooden hitter box with a metal pipe inside his pants pocket, police said.

Ryan was charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a Jan. 16, 2013 court date.
TUESDAY, DEC. 4
Beanie Baby Cards Stolen in Home Burglary
Police responded to a home in the 5200 block of Fairview Avenue around 9:55 a.m. for a report of a residential burglary.
The victim told the officer someone entered his residence and stole several items sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 4, police said. Among the stolen items were a laptop, Craftsman tools and a binder with 46 Beanie Baby trading cards.
Car Burglary on Forest Avenue
A car was burglarized in the 5100 block of Forest Avenue sometime between 6 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., police said. A backpack containing a digital camera, battery charger, cash and CDs was stolen.
MONDAY, DEC. 3
Stolen Sewer Covers
Three curb sewer covers were stolen in the 3300 block of Finley Road between 12:23 a.m. on Nov. 30 and midnight on Dec. 3, police said.
SUNDAY, DEC. 2
Car Burglary on Saratoga Avenue
A car was burglarized in the 4200 block of Saratoga Avenue sometime between 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 2, police said. A Radio Shack radar detector and $5 in cash were taken from inside the vehicle.
