Laura Van Vooren, 67, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Downers Grove

Laura Van Vooren, 67, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on Monday July 31, 2023. She was born in Chicago, IL, to Ann Eileen nee Klein and Paul John Varga.

Loving wife of David Van Vooren who she married on December 20, 1980, in Glenwood, IL, at St. Johns Catholic Church. Dear mother of the late Andrew Van Vooren and Ann (Jonathan) Scales. Doting grandmother of Elisabeth. Sister of Kathryn Flores, Ann Varga, Paul (Kim) Varga. Sister-in-law of Pattee (Ron) Epstein, Dan (Brenda) Van Vooren, Kathy (Marte) Johnson, and Don Van Vooren. Daughter in law of Nellie Van Vooren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Laura grew up in Lansing, IL and attended Thorton Fractional South High School class of 1974. She went on to earn a BA in art history from Eastern Illinois University. Later she also earned a Masters degree in Business Administration also from Eastern Illinois. While at school Laura met the love of her life, David. They worked together at Mothers, a Charleston disco/restaurant, serving food and laughing at the actions of their fellow college students and friends.

Laura was avid sports fan cheering on the St. Louis Cardinal and Chicago Blackhawks and especially enjoyed watching her two children’s sporting events. Laura enjoyed crafting, especially needle point and had a special talent for cross stitch. Her family will always treasure the pieces she shared with them.

A Visitation will be held on Monday August 7, 2023, from 3PM to 7PM at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville IL 60540. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday August 8, 2023, at 11 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 36 N Ellsworth St, Naperville, IL 60540. Interment will be for immediate family only.
