Man Accused Of Masturbating In Car In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man was charged with public indecency after a woman told police she saw him masturbating in his vehicle on 75th Street in Downers Grove.

Roberto Carlos Mejia Mendoza was charged with public indecency in connection with the May 7 incident.

Police were called to the vicinity of Lemont and 75th around 7 p.m. on May 7 for a report of public indecency. Around 7:30 p.m., an officer pulled over a car that matched the description given by the woman who had reported the incident.

According to a police report, Mendoza cooperated with the officer's request to stay until the woman came to see if he matched her description, but he said he had not been masturbating in his car.

The woman told police she had been walking past Mendoza's car when she saw "his penis fully exposed," but she was unable to get his license plate number before he drove off. Police say the woman identified Mendoza as the man she had seen masturbating.

Mendoza was arrested shortly after and was also cited for driving with expired license plates. He is set to appear in court May 23.
