Man Arrested After Home Burglarized In Downers Grove
Police say the homeowners returned to find items had been stolen from their home.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man was arrested Tuesday after a home was burglarized on Brookside Lane in Downers Grove.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Brookside around 8 p.m. on Feb. 27 for a report of a residential burglary. The homeowners said they returned to their house after leaving around 6:45 p.m. and found mud on their floor and "dark wet spots" on their couch.
They said one of their children may have left their front door open. The residents reported that a purple backpack with an iPad and office supplies in it had been stolen.

Police later found a man with a backpack that matched the stolen one in the possession of a man who had been seen trying to enter businesses in the 5100 block of Main Street.
Chester Johnson, 71, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with residential burglary. He is set to appear in court on March 25.
