Man Charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle In Downers Grove
Police say a Woodridge man was found in possession of a car that had been reported stolen out of Joliet.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle after police say he had been driving a Subaru that had been reported stolen out of Joliet. Downers Grove police were notified by Woodridge police that a license plate reader had scanned the car's plates, which triggered a match with the stolen Subaru.
Around 4 p.m., Downers Grove police reported that they saw the car near the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, and then located it, unoccupied, in the parking lot of the Dunkin' at 6310 Woodward.
Police came into the Dunkin' and reported that Derrick Darkwah 33, of Woodridge was the only customer inside.

According to police, Darkwah said he found the car at a mechanic's shop nearby a homeless shelter in Joliet. Police say Darkwah told them the car's keys had been in the ignition.
Darkwah was taken into custody without incident.
