DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Mexican flag was vandalized, cars were burglarized, and other crimes were reported in the most recent crime blotter from the Downers Grove Police Department.
Flag Vandalized in 5400 Block of Main Street
Police were called to the 5400 block of Main Street for a report that a resident's Mexican flag had been vandalized. The victim told police someone had removed the flag from her garage, torn the flag, put it on the ground and broke the flag pole. She said the incident took place between 6 p.m. on May 5 and 8:30 a.m. on May 6. Police say the resident believes the incident took place because the flag represents Mexico.

Car Burglarized in 900 Block of Meadowlawn Avenue
Police say a man's car was burglarized sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on May 6. According to the blotter, a resident was awakened by a barking dog and went outside to discover the car, which was dead, had been moved and that the hood was left open. According to police, the resident saw a person walking from the scene, but could not offer a description. Surveillance footage confirmed that someone tampered with the car around 4:30 a.m., per the crime blotter.

Truck Burglarized in 1000 Block of Adelia Street
Someone burglarized an unlocked truck in the 1000 block of Adelia Street between 5 p.m. on May 5 and 7:30 a.m. on May 6. Police say someone had entered the truck, opened the glove compartment and scattered items throughout the truck.
House Burglarized in 1100 Block of 60th Place
A resident told police that on May 7 a motorcycle helmet had been stolen from his garage. The helmet was valued at $1,000, per the resident. The blotter said he "expressed concern" regarding the "increasing frequency" of burglaries and thefts in the area.
