Paper Shredding Event Aims to Prevent Identity Theft

The event will take place April 16 in Downers Grove.

Downers Grove, IL - Downers Grove residents are invited to a paper shredding event to prevent identity theft.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon April 16 at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave., in the fenced-in lot off Curtiss Street, according to the village.

The event is hosted by the Village of Downers Grove and Accurate Document Destruction.

Participants may be asked to show proof of Downers Grove residency. Each vehicle may bring one brown paper bag or one banker's box filled with personal paperwork.

A bonded and insured representative of Accurate Document Destruction will use a crosscut shredder destroy the documents. Shredded materials are taken to a recycling facility.
