Patch Poll: What is Your Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish?

It's not all about the turkey. A perfect Thanksgiving meal can be measured in beans and potatoes and other good stuff.

We have much to be thankful for, including a table loaded with good food, on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. While the turkey is defrosting, the discussion and planning about side dishes have begun.

People are passionate about their potatoes, bonkers for beans and serious about the perfect stuffing recipe. Often for sentimental reasons, Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving without certain side dishes.

So, Patch Poll asks: What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?

In the most Patch Poll, "Will President Obama's Student Loan Plan Help to Stimulate the Economy?," 73 percent answered no; 26 percent answered yes.

Some of the comments to the poll included this one from Maria: "College tuition need to be fully tax deductible at all income level. Limiting the tax deduction to a small fraction of the cost of college and limiting the deduction to certain income levels has us paying income taxes on the 40K per year to send a kid to college. Assuming a 25 percent tax bracket, that would put 10k per year per college kid into the economy."

Albert said, "Demand increases costs, to some extent the meteoric rise in college educations can be explained, but not fully. It goes beyond the government created subsidized loans to permit low-income college accessibility. It is in part letting some into college that are not qualified, graduating students whose reading and writing skills are at a seventh grade level."

Elaine Johnson said, "We mulled having our son take a gap year to earn money for college. The reality is no high school graduate could begin to earn enough, even working full-time, to pay for a year of college. The cost is exorbitant and while it's easy enough to say everyone should major in accounting, nursing or engineering, even many of those kids have trouble landing a job after graduation. I like Maria's plan, but I also realize that we need to create more jobs at robust salaries. I see the fat cat corporate chieftains as part of the problem, not part of the solution."
