Pedestrian Killed by Metra Train in Downers Grove
A person was hit by Train No. 1252 Wednesday morning.

Downers Grove, IL - A person died Wednesday morning after being hit by a Metra BNSF train near the Downers Grove Main Street station.
Train No. 1252 hit the pedestrian at 8:15 a.m., according to a Metra spokesperson.
It originated at Aurora at 7:42 a.m. and made a stop in Naperville at 7:59 a.m. It was not scheduled to stop at the Downers Grove Main Street station.

The three tracks at the Main Street station were closed for about 90 minutes after the person was hit, and trains began moving on one track around 9:45 a.m. Inbound and outbound trains were moving at a restricted speed as of 10:28 a.m., according to Metra.
Train No. 1252 was still stopped at the station as of 10:50 a.m., waiting for local authorities to give permission for it to move.
