Man Busted for Retail Theft at Fry's
Ryan G. Stowers, 33, of the 500 block of Castle in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. at Fry's Electronics, 3300 Finley Road, police said.
A loss prevention officer at Fry's said he was watching the store's security cameras when he noticed someone who had stolen from Fry's in the past, according to reports. He watched the man, identified as Stowers, as he selected a hard drive case and place a new UPC label on it, police said.
Stowers then did the same with a Samsung stylus pen kit, according to reports. However, the pen kit wouldn't scan when Stowers went to check out, so he ended up purchasing the item at regular price, police said.
Store employees stopped Stowers as he exited the store, and called police.
The receipt showed the Stowers paid $19.99 for the hard drive case, when it actually cost $46.99, police said. Officers found two other fake UPC labels while searching his wallet, according to reports.
Stowers was charged with retail theft.

They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
