DOWERS GROVE, IL — A man was charged with retail theft after he was accused of stealing items from the Best Buy on Butterfield Road in Downers Grove.

Police were called to the store at 1432 Butterfield Rd. on March 25 around 5:45 p.m. for a report of a retail theft. When officers got to the scene, they found a man outside the store who appeared to have a bulge visible beneath his coat.

According to police, they asked the man, identified in a police report as Francesco Serafini, 61, of Berwyn, to go back inside the Best Buy. Police reported that Serafini dropped a headphone package as he re-entered the store.

Serafini is accused of having stolen a set of JBL Live 770 NC wireless headphones and a six-foot power cord, the total value of which was estimated at $209.98. Serafini was arrested and permitted pare-trial release, according to the police report.
