Police say the driver failed to move over to accommodate the state trooper, who had pulled over to investigate another crash.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A driver hit an Illinois State Police squad car that was pulled over to investigate another crash on I-55 near Downers Grove Sunday.

The state trooper had been pulled over in the right lane of I-55 near the I-83 exit around 12:45 a.m. when police say Emmanuel Adantey, 29, of Bolingbrook, hit the squad car with his Toyota Camry. Adantey was cited for failing to move over when nearing an emergency vehicle with its hazards on.

According to police, 12 Illinois State troopers have been hurt this year in crashes in which a driver failed to move over. Drivers who are found to have violated the Move Over Law, also referred to as Scott's Law, face fines of up to $10,000.
