Teen Pleads Guilty To Armed Robbery In Downers Grove
A Colorado teen pleaded guilty to armed robbery with a firearm in connection with an incident that took place in April.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A 17-year-old boy from Colorado has pleaded guilty to armed robbery with a firearm in connection with an incident that took place in Downers Grove in April. The teen, who will serve an "indeterminate period of time" in Illinois's juvenile justice system, but will be released before he turns 21.
Police were called to the 4900 block of Forest Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on April 22 for a report of an armed robbery. According to prosecutors, the teen showed a handgun as he and three other people surrounded a female pedestrian and demanded cash.
One of the suspects tugged the woman's purse, per a news release. The group fled after the woman gave the teen $110 in cash, a news release said.

The teen was extradited from Denver, Colorado after a warrant was issued for his arrest in early May.
"DuPage County prides itself on the safety and security our law enforcement provides to residents, visitors and business establishments,”DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “The identification of the juvenile in this case, and his subsequent extradition from Colorado, demonstrates the lengths we will go to hold anyone who commits a crime in DuPage County accountable for their actions. We have absolutely zero tolerance for armed violence, as we saw in this case, and I commend the Downers Grove Police Department for their truly outstanding work, which included traveling to Colorado, that allowed us to hold this juvenile responsible for his actions. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorney Nick Catizone for his efforts in this case and for his continued efforts in protecting the residents of DuPage County."
