Thieves Cut Catalytic Converters From 3 Cars In 1 Week In Downers Grove
Catalytic converters were stolen from three cars between July 22 and July 27.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Catalytic converters were cut from three cars in Downers Grove in less than a week, according to the police department's crime blotters from late July.
The first incident was reported on July 22, when a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2012 Kia Sportage that was parked in the Fairview Avenue Station lot, 5099 Fairview Ave. The victim told police he parked his car in the commuter lot around 9:30 a.m. on July 22. When he returned to the car at 7 p.m. that night and began to drive away, he noticed a loud sound and discovered his catalytic converter had been stolen.
On July 27, police were called to the 2700 block of Finley Road for a report of stolen catalytic converters. The victim told police he had parked his 2018 Chevy C/K 400c truck in the lot around 4 p.m. on July 25. When he returned to the lot on July 28 around6 a.m., he noticed both catalytic converters had been removed from the truck.

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2025 Isuzu truck in the 1500 block of Centre Circle around the same time period, according to the police blotter. Police say the victim parked the truck in a lot around 4:30 p.m. on July 25. Around 10 a.m. on July 27, he returned to find the catalytic converter had been stolen.
