'Truly Very Scary:' False Bluepoint Alarm Goes Off At Downers South
Administrators said students were safe after a false Bluepoint alarm, which would indicate an active threat, was set off.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — "It truly was very scary," Downers Grove South (DGS) Principal Arwen Lyp said in an announcement Wednesday, after a false Bluepoint alarm was triggered. The false alarm, which usually indicates an active threat, went off around 12:45 p.m., the announcement said.
Lyp said "there was no actual emergency," but that staff members responded "immediately." The alarm was determined to be false, and students and staff were notified via the school's PA system.
"We sincerely apologize that this happened," Lyp wrote. "It truly was very scary, and I am so impressed with the quick actions of our students and staff in keeping each other safe."
