Uber Eats Driver's Car Stolen During Delivery In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Uber Eats driver's car was stolen while they were delivering an order in Downers Grove.

Police were called to the 4900 block of Puffer Road around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 22 for a report of a vehicle theft. The driver told police they approached the delivery address, noticed a man standing in the vestibule and assumed it was the customer who placed the order.

According to the police report, another man wearing a black ski mask then got into the car and drove away. After the driver noticed the car being stolen, they saw the man in the vestibule run off on foot.

The car was seen driving northbound on Finley Road shortly after, but the driver fled police. It was later found unoccupied and recovered in the 2400 block of South Finley Road in Lombard.

A K-9 search for a potential suspect proved unsuccessful.
