While at the Downers Grove Public Library Jan. 23, one woman said her medication was stolen from her belongings — while she was having a conversation with librarians about the importance of protecting valuables in public.

The resident called the police from the library at 1050 Curtiss St. the afternoon of the 23rd, police reported. She said the theft took place in the cafeteria sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Six separate medications were taken from her things, according to reports, while she was being talked to by librarians "about the importance of keeping an eye on her property."

The victim said she doesn't know who would have taken the drugs. The library staff didn't have security cameras in the cafeteria area of the building, so no footage of the crime was recovered.
