Would-Be Robber Broke Into Downers North Through Unlocked Window: Police
Police say the burglary and attempted robbery happened early Wednesday.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man crawled through an unlocked window to get into Downers Grove North High School, where he tried to rob a maintenance worker Wednesday morning.
Police say they got a call around 1:30 a.m. reporting the incident. After entering via the unlocked window, the man demanded money from the maintenance worker, but did not show or imply a weapon, a news release said.
The man fled after encountering another maintenance worker and was last seen heading south along Forest Avenue on foot.

The suspect, pictured below via a surveillance image, was described as a Black man between 50 and 60 years old with gray facial hair, standing around five feet, six inches tall. Police say he wore a dark baseball hat, a puffy black coat, green pants and tan gloves and boots. He was also carrying a black drawstring bag.
