District Export Councils (DECs) are organizations of leaders from the local business community, appointed by successive Secretaries of Commerce, whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms.
Illinois DEC members volunteer their time to sponsor and participate in numerous trade promotion activities. They also supply specialized expertise to small and medium sized businesses that are interested in exporting.

The Northwest Illinois Opportunity Equity Forum (OEF)
The Northwest Illinois Opportunity Equity Forum (OEF) proudly presents its first quarterly meeting on February 17, 2022 at 4:30 PM at the Rockford City Market. These quarterly meetings cater to minority and underserved businesses, entrepreneurs, and exporters. The OEF combines the resources of local, state, and federal entities to provide meaningful and practical information to help your minority or underserved business grow. The WELLTI Summit is an opportunity for women-owned and women-led businesses to connect and access resources for doing business in the Middle East and Africa region. WELLTI Summit participants will also be invited to a series of events and networking opportunities designed to support and enhance women engaging in international trade.

Minority Business Focused Trade Mission to Italy, Spain and Portugal
The purpose of the mission is to provide opportunities for U.S. companies to access the Southwestern European regional market and increase U.S. exports to the European Union (EU) region by connecting U.S. firms and trade associations to pre-screened business prospects. Trade mission activities will be designed to target the export assistance needs of minority businesses.
