ELGIN, IL — All four railroad crossings in Elgin are currently blocked by a stopped freight train, which has led to traffic delays in the area.
The city of Elgin announced the blocked crossings at about 10 a.m. in a social media post. According to city officials, the Route 20 and Interstate 90 crossings are the only crossings available at this time to get across town.
The train is dealing with mechanical issues, and it's unclear at this point when it will be back up and running again.
