Officer Hurt While Breaking Up Fight At South Elgin HS
According to police, the officer was hurt while responding to the fight at the school involving four girls.
SOUTH ELGIN, IL β South Elgin police continue investigating after a school resource officer was hurt while responding to a fight involving four girls Friday at South Elgin High School, according to the Daily Herald. The fight between the girls happened at 7:15 a.m. in the commons area of the school, South Elgin Police Deputy Chief Mike Doty said, according to the news report. Doty added that the school resource officer suffered a shoulder injury and was the first to respond to the fight, according to the Daily Herald.
The Daily Herald reported that a South Elgin girl appearing to be the victim in the fight suffered minor injuries and was released to her parents after being "looked at" at the school, Doty said. According to Doty, another girl from South Elgin and a girl from Bartlett, both 15, were taken by police and later released to their parents, while another girl from Carpentersville was taken to a school office.
