Sherman Reschedules Procedures Amid Anesthesia Provider Shortage

Advocate is rescheduling less than 100 non-critical or elective procedures and transferring patients to other Advocate locations.

ELGIN, IL — Advocate Sherman Hospital has been forced to reschedule dozens of elective procedures due to a shortage of anesthesia providers.

Advocate is rescheduling less than 100 non-critical or elective procedures and transferring patients to other Advocate Aurora Health locations to undergo the procedures up through Sept. 20, according to a statement from Advocate Sherman Hospital.

"This only impacts Advocate Sherman Hospital, and no other Advocate hospitals are impacted at this time," according to the statement.

Labor and delivery services will continue without interruption. Advocate Health officials could not provide anymore details as of Tuesday morning regarding the shortage of anesthesia providers.
