Winter 'Sidewalk Heroes' Sought By Elgin Police Department
Elgin police are encouraging and looking for "Sidewalk Heroes," who could be rewarded for clearing sidewalks and helping community members.
ELGIN, IL — The Elgin Police Department is encouraging all Elginites to "be the hero your block needs" during the wintry weather. People are asked to bundle up in their warmest snow gear and clear the sidewalks for children, the elderly, mail carriers, people with disabilities, meter readers and all else who are counting on the assistance.
The department encourages you to share your good deeds by posting photos in a public social media platform, including the hashtag #SidewalkHeroes. By doing so, you could be rewarded with a long-sleeve "Sidewalk Heroes" T-shirt.
